Now that’s some basing!
Fliers rule the skies in this edition, raining unsolicited death upon those below them, and with minimal retribution to be had.
My second Night Scythe/Doom Scythe is my first foray into Air Brushing, and it seems my first ever blend of paints was a perfect replication of Leadbeltcher from Citadel’s line. The mix was entirely from the Tamiya paint line, save for the water, which comes from nature.
- 3 parts Flat Aluminum
- 2 parts Gloss Black
- 1 part Acrylic Thinner
- 2 parts Water
This mix also lasted me long enough to base the whole of the Doom Scythe in one go, base a monkey to test adhesion, and still have enough left over to pour back into the Flat Aluminum pot. As I only have a single action Air Brush at this point, all other painting on this model was done by hand with a regular brush.
Got this bad boy ready to go for the tournament with time to spare. I might add billowing flame and smoke to it later, ‘cause Ghost Rider.
I need to stop starting projects
Or, rather, I need to finish current ones before starting new ones.
Having realized the general vulnerability of my Deathmarks on foot, and their fickle deepstriking nature, and having once seen a BEAUTIFUL deployment via a transport, I have decided to cannibalize the Ghost Ark kit that came with the Necron Battle Force and turn it into five Night/Doom Scythes and a Triarch Stalker. The Stalker will also be receiving some left over bits from my Barge to round things out, as I never use the “command console” for the Command Barge build.
I think the biggest challenge in this project will be figuring out how to craft the middle portion of the fliers. I have bits for everything else, Ghost Ark “ribs” for the wings, repairing warriors for pilots, flayer arrays for the Telsa Destructor stand-ins. I might just use the Dooms Day Cannon as the Death Ray, just for the heck of it.
